In addition to announcing the 2015 variant of the Motorola Moto G, the company also went out announcing two new handsets under the Moto X name. These two named as the Moto X Play and the Moto X Style come with some very excellent mid-range specs, ergonomic design with several color options.
Design and body
The Moto X Play as such hosts a minimalistic design but yet giving it an elegant look. The handset comes with some excellent metal frames, different color options and engravings. For the handset, the company has offered different Moto Shells and Moto Flip Shells as its cases as an extra protection to your handset with different color style options.
Hardware
Looking to its interior, the handset bakes a 64-bit 1.7Ghz octa-core chipset the Qualcomm Snapdragon 615 that is seen in most of the mid-rangers these days. In addition, the device has a 2GB of RAM memory with two storage variants of 16/32GB. Both these handset have a expandable microSD card slot of 128GB.
Coming to its display, the handset comes with a 5.5” display with a resolution of 1080 x 1920 pixels however the handset doesn’t host a stereo speakers to its front like the one seen in its sibling Moto X Style. Additionally, the device comes with extremely good battery capacity of 3630mAh capacity that the company promises of 48 hours of “mixed usage” along with turbo charging.
Looking to its camera section, the handset to its back has a 21MP primary camera with F2.0 aperture and a dual-tone LED flash while to its front there is a 5MP secondary camera. The handset supports the Quick Capture gestures that allows users to activate camera with the flick of the wrist and again take a selfie shot with the flick again.
User Interface
Looking to its past handsets, the company has always been a direct partner to the Android community loading the stock Android with some of the topped up user experience enhancing features such as the Moto Voice which could be seen on the Moto X Play in the full glory. Thus the handset hosts the latest Android 5.1.1. Lollipop pre-installed in its vanilla form.
Pricing
The handset is said to be coming in the mid-August and would be available with a price tag of $300-$400, the pricing of the device being different for the two storage variants.
